Welcome and Contents

This archive is a collection of the original Guild Relations Forums before Blizzard killed them with the move to the new Blog style Community Pages.  I have tried to limit the amount of editing, but many topics are simply irrelevant due to the changes the game as undergone.  I have left the good stuff alone as I couldn’t imagine being able to improve upon what these folks have shared over the years.  Please enjoy and let me know if you have any questions or concerns related to this archive. -Zosima

Welcome to the Guild Relations Forum! Whether this is your first time here, an occasional lurker, or a regular forum contributor, you are part of a unique experience to the World of Warcraft forums.

Unlike other service related forums, this forum is almost entirely a result of the people who post here, both in creating topics, and in providing solid and thoughtful replies and advice to those topics. We are also self-policing, and work hard amongst ourselves to create and maintain a healthy atmosphere where people feel comfortable in asking almost any guild related question and confident that such questions will be well answered.

Blizzard employees maintain a presence here, but unlike other boards where Blizzard employees and MVP players post, here they tend to limit their interactions to forum administration: removing bad posts, stickying good ones, moving posts that have found their way onto the wrong forum, dealing with trolls and spammers, and making the rare announcement or two. If you’ve come here to speak directly to Blizzard, you’re probably in the wrong place.

But don’t let that discourage you. Just because we don’t have blue or green text doesn’t mean that we can’t provide you with excellent answers. On the contrary, over the years we’ve established ourselves as a forum chock full of helpful posters who know what they’re talking about, and give you the advice you need (even if, sometimes, you didn’t realize that was the advice you needed).

We are self-policing, and over the years the posters here have developed a sort of standard, especially the many, many posters who volunteer time daily, weekly, and monthly to answer as many questions as they possibly can.

Because of this, and to help everyone out, I’m going to try to cover some of the basics of this forum, to help you get the most out of it, whether you came here because of an issue you’re having with a guild member, or are looking for advice on how to handle loot, or are unsure of what to look for in a guild, or any other guild related issue.

I hope you find this a useful read.

These are guides that have been made by other players and posted on the GRF forum to help others.

One of the best ways to help grow this community is to write guides that can be useful to others, or to update existing guides with new information. We are always looking for more guide writers, and you don’t need to ask. Just go ahead, give it a shot, and post it.

Be forewarned though; guide writing is not for everyone. You have to be able to take advice and criticism of your work, as well as put almost as much effort into the guide after you write it as you did in writing it in the first place. But that’s because these guides are, ultimately, a group effort. Writing one gets your name on it, but we all help in the editing process.
