Ok,\u00a0 going to be curt, candid, and everything that isn’t tactful. Just letting you know up front.<\/p>\n

Seems more than a couple players are QQing<\/a> (there are more here<\/a>, and then there’s this guy<\/a>) over the stats of this year’s version of the Frostscythe of Lord Ahune.<\/p>\n

If you need this weapon to up your DPS, you are doing it wrong.\u00a0 Like the Diamond Tipped Cane, this is merely a “Pimp Set” weapon.\u00a0 The stats really don’t matter when you are rocking this bad-ass blade in Stormwind.\u00a0 I’ve been playing the game for a while now, and this has always been a crappy weapon for stats.\u00a0 For fun, here are some screen-caps of the stats.\u00a0 A big thanks to MMO-Champ and WoW-head for these images (hey, at least I’m not hotlinking them).<\/p>\n

The complaints drew a response from Bashiok fairly quickly.

Making it ideal (stat-wise) now and it would stomp all over ZA\/ZG weapons. It’s fairly trivial to obtain so we’re just not really willing to do that.<\/p>\n

The solution we’re considering would be to make it a 346 blue, but there are some designer-y issues and side effects of what a change like that would cause. Either way I don’t think we would be keeping it purple and giving it Int or otherwise making the stats more ideal.<\/p>\n

But anyway, those cloaks are pretty sweet, huh?<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Here is the original level 70 version:
\nThat’s right, the original had Int, but not enough to get worked up over.\u00a0 Imean if +35 Int was making the difference, you really really weren’t doing it right. Anyone actually still pining for the days of separate Spell Damage and Healing?\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The next go around, we got a modified version of it for level 70s:
\nNo +Int, but gotta love that +Spirit, right?\u00a0 This is when we got the sexy On-Use ability.

The next year, we see Ahune went all Team Jacob, hit the gym, and improved his weapon, too.
\nNo more +Int or +Spi, but we did get some cool Spell Power.

Last and certainly not least we have this year’s model:
\nOh look it’s no worse that all the others.

At the end of the day, the staff has been scaled up.\u00a0 That’s all we are going to get and that’s all we need to get.\u00a0 Go farm this painfully easy boss every day for the week of the Midsummer Fire Festival.\u00a0 If you get it, strut it in style but don’t expect it to make the least bit of difference while you are staring at your meters.\u00a0 Sometimes things in the game are just cool and don’t need anything else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
